2014 Summer Newsletter
Our congratulations to everybody who took part in our annual Emerald Lakes Garage Sale this past May 15th
through 17th, both sellers and buyers. We understand that though the weather was sometimes wet, the
event itself was a big success. We look forward to your taking part again, next year!
We've recently replaced the old, damaged dock on the Champagne Shores lake with a new one. Be sure to
check it out when you get a chance. We think you'll really like its railings and benches. We're also looking into
the possibility of having a smaller but similar dock added the lake on Emerald Lakes Drive. More on that later
this year, when we'll bring the matter to you for a vote.
We've contracted to restock the fish this September in our lake on Emerald Lakes Drive. The law hasn't
changed, which means if you want to fish, it's catch and release.
There have been several complaints of non-residents fishing in the lakes. This is private property–our private,
shared property–and not open to anyone else, unless escorted by an Emerald Lakes resident. So if you see
anyone or any party fishing our lakes whom you're certain aren't residents, don't get involved in arguments
with them. Just call the police to have them escorted out.
We're still getting the occasional email about muskrats spotted in and around the lakes. When you see one,
don't hesitate to contact us. We'll get a trapper out as soon as possible.
Some reports have come in of bicycling on the common areas. While they're great for a stroll or a jog, please
remember that bicycling isn't permitted on them.
Kids will be kids, but the lakes belong to all of us–so please remind your children that our lakes are for fishing,
watching, sailing and canoeing, not swimming or tossing in rocks.
With summer on us, deer will be more likely to appear in the development early in the day before the heat, or
late. Take care driving at sunrise, dusk, or during the night, and consider fencing your fruit and vegetable
gardens. Deer love free meals.
That's it from us. We'll be speaking with you again this Fall. Until then!
